Sakeenah for Seniors is a wellness-focused initiative by Sakeenah Canada, a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable populations through holistic, culturally, and faith-informed support.
This program is designed to help our elders stay active, healthy, and socially connected through engaging workshops, interactive activities, and wellness events. Each session focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and soul, whether through movement, nutrition, mindfulness, or creative expression.
By creating spaces of learning and connection, Sakeenah for Seniors fosters community, belonging, and purpose, ensuring our seniors continue to thrive and feel valued in every stage of life.
Sakeenah for Seniors offers meaningful ways for seniors to stay connected and engaged. Join our upcoming events, volunteer with us, or make a donation to help sustain Sakeenah’s programs.
These events are open to all seniors (typically 55+) in the community who wish to connect, learn, and participate in wellness activities.
Most sessions are free, while some may have a small fee to cover materials or refreshments. Details are listed on each event’s registration page.
You can contact the Sakeenah Canada Education Program team to explore hosting a local seniors’ event or partnership.
While Sakeenah functions at a national level, our head office and The People’s Market operate out of land that is part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
Sakeenah believes that while a land acknowledgement is the first step, we also understand that land acknowledgements alone are not sufficient to redress the harm caused by centuries of land theft, forced displacement and ongoing acts of settler colonialism. We recognize that this work is ongoing and complex, and we are dedicated to doing our part to create a better future for all.
