Our Child and Youth Program helps children ages 4-17 build resilience and life skills through mentorship and tailored activities.
Our Child and Youth Program is dedicated to helping children and youth overcome past challenges, promoting self-esteem, social-emotional learning, and healthy development.
We create a supportive environment where children can thrive, build resilience, and feel safe to express themselves. With tailored activities and individualized care, our program fosters growth, confidence, and emotional healing, ensuring every child is empowered to become a resilient, confident individual.
The Child and Youth Program provides engaging age-appropriate activities and interactive group discussions that encourage personal growth and development in the following key areas:
Are you a child-serving organization that would like to offer the Child and Youth program to your clients? Or are you an organization that would like to contribute your services to our child and youth program? We would love to get in touch!
Our Child and Youth Program is designed to help the children and youth who are in our transitional homes. The program is also offered to Sakeenah Canada’s remote clients and other child-serving organizations that Sakeenah has partnered with.
The program supports children and youth aged 4-17. All sessions are divided into three age categories:
The program uses a trauma-informed care approach that focuses on healing and empowerment, helping children and youth build resilience, confidence, and a sense of safety while improving their overall well-being.
Sakeenah has partnered with some great organizations that provide free tutoring to our in-home clients virtually.
The program is individually-tailored to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs), providing developmentally appropriate support to help them build essential English language skills.
Your donation to our Child and Youth Program will create a safe, nurturing space for young minds to thrive, learn, and build a brighter future with love, support, and community values.
While Sakeenah functions at a national level, our head office and The People’s Market operate out of land that is part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
Sakeenah believes that while a land acknowledgement is the first step, we also understand that land acknowledgements alone are not sufficient to redress the harm caused by centuries of land theft, forced displacement and ongoing acts of settler colonialism. We recognize that this work is ongoing and complex, and we are dedicated to doing our part to create a better future for all.
