Sakeenah operates transitional homes, not emergency shelters or walk-in shelters. Women and children move into our homes after assessments are completed, and space is available, typically within 24-48 hours. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but also have an after-hours emergency program where we accept calls past 5:00 PM on weekdays and provide 24-hour support on weekends for anyone in need of emergency assistance.

Sakeenah is primarily a Muslim women and childrens shelter, however Sakeenah helps and supports clients from all backgrounds as long as the clients respect and follow Sakeenah’s in-home rules and guidelines.

The length of stay at Sakeenah Transitional Homes varies depending on the client’s goals and circumstances.

Children and youth are referred to Sakeenah’s Child and Youth program, which also offers guidance and resources to help mothers support their children during their stay and beyond.

No, The People’s Market is a monthly food assistance program available by referral and appointment only. Caseworkers schedule appointments based on the client’s preferred day and time.
