Unwind and connect at this wellness event for seniors 55+, featuring mindfulness exercises, guided dhikr, and a relaxing high tea social. Through a blend of contemporary and Islamic practices, you'll explore breathing techniques, gratitude reflections, and stress relief tools, followed by time to enjoy refreshments and meaningful conversation with others in the community.

This event is designed to offer seniors (ages 55+) an evening of peace, reflection, and connection. It brings together contemporary wellness techniques and Islamic practices to support emotional and mental wellbeing in a holistic way.
Led by Shamyle Khan, Mental Health Program Manager at Sakeenah Canada (MS Clinical Psychology), the first half of the session will feature guided relaxation exercises including breathing techniques, gratitude reflections, and dhikr-based meditation to help participants manage stress and enhance mindfulness.
The second half of the evening will transition into a cozy high tea social, providing a chance to connect with others, reflect, and enjoy light refreshments in a welcoming and supportive environment.
While Sakeenah functions at a national level, our head office and The People’s Market operate out of land that is part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
Sakeenah believes that while a land acknowledgement is the first step, we also understand that land acknowledgements alone are not sufficient to redress the harm caused by centuries of land theft, forced displacement and ongoing acts of settler colonialism. We recognize that this work is ongoing and complex, and we are dedicated to doing our part to create a better future for all.
